Magen David Adom in Israel-Azerbaijani Red Crescent Society Cooperation
On August 26th 2007, a delegation of Magen David Adom paramedics/instructors arrived in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, as a result of joined effort of Magen David Adom, the Red Crescent Society of Azerbaijan and the Israeli Foreign Affairs Ministry.
The objective of the visit was to train the volunteers of the Red Crescent Society to become instructors of first aid to the general public.
The Azerbaijani Red Crescent Society initiates and takes part in many humanitarian activities, such as providing shelter and clothing to populations that suffered from natural disasters, health youth programs, and educational and health programs to inhabitants of conflict areas.
The training took place according to the Memorandum Of Understanding which was signed by the President of the Azerbaijani Red Crescent Society, Mr. Novruz Aslanov and the Chairman of Magen David Adom, Dr. Noam Yifrach in Tel Aviv in April 2007.
The course, which was provided by 2 senior paramedics/instructors, Boris Kozokin and Amir Nemiot, took place at the lecture hall facility in the Red Crescent offices. It went on for 5 eight - hour days. The program of the course was designed to meet the needs of the Red Crescent Society instructors. The course's syllabus included chapters that dealt with common medical emergencies, such as resuscitation of an adult, child and infant, ways to diagnose and treat foreign body aspiration, heart attack, stroke, hypoglycemia, common trauma: bleeding, burns, wounds fractures, etc. Each lecture focused on instructional methods, in addition to its' medical content.
The course graduation ceremony was honored by the presence of Israeli Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Mr. Arthur Lank.
The equipment used for the course - 2 CPR mannequins, trauma kit, spine immobilization board and accessories, together with laptop computer and projector, were donated to the Red Crescent graduates of the training by Magen David Adom, as a token of belief in the common goal of both organizations - to help save more lives.
