On October 29th, 2007, the President of the German Red Cross Society, Mr. Rudolf Seiters arrived in Israel on an official visit in Magen David Adom Headquarters, aiming to further develop the relations between the two NS. The German Red Cross Society has cooperated with MDA on many previous occasions in the past; many were prior to the admission of MDA as a full member of the Red Cross Movement. In parallel to his most significant support and contribution to the process of MDA's admission to the movement, Mr. Seiters has been working towards to enhancing and expanding the cooperation between the two NS in different fields. Such was the kind invitation to an MDA delegation to a youth exchange at the Bavarian RC, and the continuous cooperation in the field of Blood Services.
Mr. Seiters was greeted by MDA's Executive Committee Chairman, Dr. Noam Yifrach and MDA's Director General, Mr. Eli Bin. In his current visit he was accompanied by Dr. Johannes Richert, the Head of National and International Aid Department of the GRC, and Mr. Kai Leonhardt, the Head of the GRC delegation in the Middle East, who is stationed in Amman. The delegation conducted meetings with MDA's directorate and senior management and received an overview of Magen David Adom activities as Israel's national EMS. The delegation toured the Blood Services facilities and had a thorough insight in the advanced methods utilized by MDA'S Blood Services and the recent research conducted. The tour was followed by a discussion with Dr. Vered Yahalom, deputy of the head of the blood services, on mutual support in this field. Upon concluding the visit, Mr. Seiters thanked MDA's directorate for the successful visit. Both Dr. Yifrach and Mr. Seiters expressed their willingness to develop the cooperation, through exchange in expertise, knowledge and delegations from both National Societies.
