During the last 10 days, MDA ambulance teams have been busy with some very enjoyable work. Delivering no fewer than 27 babies!
The babies were delivered either in MDA ambulances, private homes or via telephone instruction from MDA's 101 Dispatch Center hotline.
The highlight of the baby boom was the MDA Jerusalem team who delivered twins by the side of the main Jerusalem-Tel Aviv highway. Two 16-year-old MDA volunteers each held a baby in their arms until they safely reached the hospital.
In total, Jerusalem region teams delivered 10 babies – four from Beit Shemesh, five from Jerusalem and one from Talmon in the Binyamin area.
In the Dan Region, MDA teams brought three babies into the world – in Tel Aviv, Givat Shmuel and Bnei Brak. Teams from the Yarkon region delivered another three in Kiryat Ono, Petach Tikva and Bnei Dror and three more were born in the Ayalon district – two in Modi'in Illit and one in Holon.
MDA teams from the Sharon Region delivered two babies in Or Akiva and Gan Yashiya.
Further south, in the Negev Region, one baby was delivered in Ramat Hovav and a second was miraculously born in a car traveling on Route 40 with telephone help from the 101 MDA Dispatch Center. A Lachish region team delivered another baby in Ashdod.
Not to be left out of the celebrations, the northern teams also played their part, delivering one baby in Rosh Pina and two in Kiryat Motzkin and Yokneam.
MDA Director-General, Eli Bin: "MDA teams are well versed in bringing the future generation into the world. They are exposed to emotional scenes all over the country on a daily basis. It is true the past few days have seen many more births than usual and we are very happy about that. I would like to remind mothers to listen to the instructions of the Dispatch Center officers and follow them to the letter until the ambulance team arrives on the scene. They are essential for receiving full support and delivering the baby safely."
