On June 23th, 7 MDA volunteers completed a two week international rescue training of the Red cross in the Balkan.
The course was organized by the Hellenic Red Cross Society, and took place in the Red Cross training facility in Patras, Greece.
Representatives from various Red Cross National Societies took part in the training: Turkey, Greece, Bulgaria, Serbia, and Egypt.
During two weeks, the participants explored the different National Societies participating, and their involvement for preparedness as well as their response to disasters in their countries, and exercised rescue techniques in different outlines.
MDA representatives in the training were senior volunteers, who carry long years of practical experience of operating in such events.
Their experience was expressed in the course's first day, when an earthquake occurred in the region. The Greek participants were immediately called in to support the evacuation and rescue of the hurt population, accompanied by MDA volunteers.
The MDA participants indicated the great interest expressed by their colleagues from the participating countries in MDA's performance, and expressed their confidence that this is just the first step towards regional cooperation.
